DAY 1: STRENGTH

Today I started my first day of training using HalHigdon’s 8 week training schedule. On the schedule today, strength training! As a runner, I would say my arm strength is not up to par. I started with what I could, 5 lbs and 15 minute YouTube work outs. Don’t let anyone tell you you are weak because man did 5 lbs feel heavy, especially after a long day of working with kids. I lasted about 2- 15 mins videos before I could no longer feel my arms or physically pick up a dumbbell. Even though the work out was hard and I was not impressed with my weight, I felt really good after. You know when you finish an ab workout and you look down assuming you have a six pack? That’s how I felt with my arms, 30 mins is enough to get build guns right?? “The beach (flexes arms) is that way (flexes arms)” Can’t wait for more strength training as I move out of my running comfort zone! Tomorrow… BIKING! (I run for a reason- I am not coordinated- this could be interesting..)
