Today I had to complete my first swim work out. I was feeling pretty psyched about the idea of not having to put on my running shoes and instead my bathing suit and jump in my pool! I expect swim day to feel more like a day off but boy was I wrong.
I blasted my water proof speakers, popped on my goggles and started off for my first lap. Water rushing past my face, through my hair- it felt great! after a little I started feeling super tired, my arms were feeling weak and was losing breath. I thought I would check my phone, as I must be close to the end of my work out. Wrong. 3 mins! It had only been 3 mins! ARE YOU KIDDING! I am suppose to swim 20 mins, 17 mins left! I felt like a ping pong ball going continuously back and forth and only 3 mins….
I needed to do something to keep my brain occupied and not keep thinking about the time or I would not get through this work out. I had a move the next week and I decided to go through my apartment and plan where everything would fit, go, and the things I might want to get rid of. Time started to fly. I finished my work out with out checking the time!
I realized during this work out that exercise is a great way to get planning and thinking done. I did not feel stressed about the move because I had already spent the time thinking about it- while also getting my work out done. If you are struggling with complete your long work out- think about what you can plan out or think about! Who knows, maybe you will plan something life changing while working out!
